Description

Shakyamuni Buddha- Buddha's Five Disciple

This is the thangka of Shakyamuni Buddha along with his five disciples which was painted in Acrylics Colors and Genuine 24K Gold by our artist. The exquisite transparent nimbus that sparkles around him contrasts with the vivid blue halo that gives the face a glow. The halo and nimbus are used to emphasize buddha. He's sitting on a moon disc lotus seat with his legs crossed. His right hand is in the Earth touching mudra, while his left hand is resting on his lap, holding a begging bowl with a clam-like face. He is surrounded by his five disciples.

Shakyamuni Buddha is the historical Buddha, the originator of Buddhist philosophy, and is commonly referred to as "the Buddha." In the Buddhist religion, each "Kalpa" (a Buddhist eon) is considered to have its own Buddha, whose teachings gradually fade until the next Buddha arrives. He is believed to have lived around 420 BC and spent most of his time preaching the teachings of Dharma. The Life of Buddha Thangka depicts his life in detail. He is regarded as a role model, mentor, and inspiration. The "dharma," or spiritual belief, and the "sanga," or Buddhist community, are said to secure his presence on Earth.
