Jambala was born many eons ago in the world known as Hoetzer Jyapa, which means "a hundred light rays." Famines, natural disasters, and wars were unheard of in this region of enormous abundance. In this most fortunate realm as well, the Buddha Nime Shel spread Mahayoga teachings. Jambala hoped ardently that he would be reborn as a god of wealth throughout this wealthy life, with the noble goal of helping the poor and unfortunate. Following this honorable life, he was resurrected as a prince in a kingdom north of Mt. Meru controlled by Vaisravana, one of the primary gods of riches, as per his wishes. Following that, he is claimed to keep his promise to help all sentient beings with his kindness at all times. In certain writings, it is stated that Jambala bestows both material and spiritual wealth on his adherents, with the former actually assisting in the acquisition of the latter.
