Vajrasattva also known as Dorje Sempa, Thangka Tibetan Art

Vajrasattva or Dorje Sampa is depicted in this thangka. He is a Mahayana, Mantrayana, and Vajrayana Buddhist bodhisattva. Vajrayana is a transformative path. Vajrasatva is the esoteric side of the bodhisattva Samantabhadra, and is frequently connected with the student practitioner who gains an ever-enriching subtle and rarefied footing in their esoteric practice through the master's teachings. Vajrasattva practice is used to cleanse and purify our negative karma.

Note: Vajrasattva Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.

Vajrasattva is usually represented as a single figure holding the vajra in his right hand and the bell in his left, both of which are muted against his thigh. In meditations relating to the Chakrasamvara teachings, he has two important functions. First and foremost, he is the pure practitioner, whose cleansing is required before to performing the rituals. Vajrasattva's second purpose is to serve as Chakrasamvara's preliminary meditation form, in which he appears as a dark-blue figure known as Jnanadaka, in union with his prajna.
