Later, he gave up his royal life to become a monk. At the temple of Somapuri in India, he received ordination from the abbot Vinayadeva and the teacher Jayakirti. He constructed a modest stone temple filled with depictions of the Triple Gem, which purified his parents' obscurations. Virupa kept the Chakrasamvara practice at night while teaching the Sutrayana, disputing, and writing Dharma books during the day. He did this for a long time without seeing any results or achieving any goals.
