In Hindu mythology, Jambhala is also known as Vaishravana, the popular god of wealth, and bears a striking resemblance to the Hindu deity Kubera. The governing deity of Tibet's snowy mountain ranges is Jambala, the Buddhist God of Wealth perched on a white snow lion. It is Tibet's national animal, and it appears on the Tibetan national flag as well as the Dalai Lama's personal symbol. Jambhala's broad, rounded physique is golden yellow, and he wears a severe countenance. His right hand bears a victory banner, while his left arm holds a mongoose, a symbol of good fortune. The mongoose is depicted spewing gems, indicating the Lord of Wealth's blessing. In addition, Jambhala is the north direction's Guardian deity.
