Krodha Kali), known as the 'Black Wrathful Mother,' is a fierce black aspect of Vajravarahi. Her visualized form is used in the Chod practice, which aims to cut through strong attachments. This particular thangka belongs to the Dudjom Tersar tradition of Dudjom Rinpoche. In a bow-and-arrow posture, she dances upon a corpse, set upon a sun disc and lotus. In her outstretched right hand, she holds a vajra-handled curved knife, while in her lowered left hand, she carries a skull cup filled with blood. Her body is blue-black in color, and she is adorned with five bone ornaments, a garland of fifty severed heads, a tiger-skin loincloth, and a human-skin shawl. An elephant skin is stretched behind her back, and she wields a trident-topped khatvanga in the crook of her left arm. Her tawny hair streams upward above a crown made of five skulls, and from the top of her head emerges the fierce and squealing head of a sow.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSurrounding Troma Nagmo are the eight dakinis of her mandala. Four of these dakinis are identical to her in form but are colored to represent the four directions: white for the east, yellow for the south, red for the west, and green for the north. The remaining four dakinis, representing the inter-cardinal directions, are also colored white, yellow, red, and green, but each holds different attributes in their right hands.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBeneath these eight dakinis are the four animal-headed guardians that watch over the four gateways of her mandala.
