This is the print of original thangka Red Chenrezig also known as Gyalwa Gyasto, whose practice as a Highest Yoga Tantra yidam deity is of particular importance in the Kagyu Traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. In this thangka, Chenrezig is coral-red in color, with one face and four arms, and he sits in vajra-posture upon a white moon disc and a multicolored lotus.

Red Chenrezig (Gyalwa Gyamtso, Jinasagara) is an annuttara yoga yidam who is usually represented with a spouse and in either five-deity or nine-deity forms. The practice is of the father tantra tradition, with a focus on the upaya of compassion, which transforms aggressiveness totally. It includes an extensive body mandala and a completion stage, and it's usually only done as part of a three-year or longer retreat. The ritual has outer, inner, secret, and very secret parts, as well as a drubchen and fire puja, similar to Chakrasamvara.
