Incense Burner, Buddhist Ritual Item
The incense burner is beautifully handcrafted with gold-plated silver decorated with symbols inspired by the Eight Auspicious Symbols. The Dharma Chakra and a pair of deer is placed at the top of the lid and fitted with dragon head handles.
The rectangle-shaped Incense Burner is suitable for various forms of incense and is raised off the ground for protection against overheating and fire. The incense will then glow and start to provide scented smoke. A removable lid enables convenient access and easy cleaning, while carvings mask ventilation openings that enable the Incense Burner to be used covered or open.
In Buddhism, incense burners, or censers, are used in all Buddhist cultures and denominations. Incense burning occurs both in the home and in the temple and serves as an offering to the Buddha or various deities. It is also an important ritual act believed to clear the air of evil spirits.
