Vintage Avalokiteshvara Thangka
Introduction To The Thangka :
This painting of Arya Lokeshvara was collected in late 1980's. The beautiful colors and workmanship have aged well and seem rich and soothing with the passing time.
Chenrezig is known as the Buddha of Compassion, and his 1000-armed image depicts his never-ending dedication to alleviate the suffering of sentient beings. In essence, he condenses the compassion of all 1,000 Buddhas into a single picture. Chenrezig, the Thousand-Armed, is the main object of refuge in Nyungne, a profound fasting retreat practice. Keeping strict vows, remaining completely silent, and fasting are all part of the discipline.
