1000 armed Avalokiteshvara with major bodhisattvas
The original size of this thangka is 18 x 24 inches.
This thangka is a very rare and unique representation of 1000 armed Avalokiteshvara. Here, he is portrayed with major Bodhisattvas including Amitabha, Green tara, White Tara, Guru rinpocche, Manjushree, Namtoshe and Vajrapani. This thangka is done in traditional black and gold, Nakthang style. Arya Avalokiteshvara graces the central part of the thangka, attended by his close Bodhisattva and offering goddesses.

Avalokiteshvara is also the earthly embodiment of the eternal Buddha Amitabha, whose figure is depicted in his headdress. He guards the world between the departure of the historical Buddha, Gautama, and the appearance of the future Buddha, Maitreya. Shipwrecks, fire, assassins, robbers, and wild beasts are all protected by Avalokiteshvara. He is the creator of the actual universe, which is the fourth world.
