Avalokiteshvara Chenresig
Introduction To The Thangka :
In order to free all sentient beings from samsara and to serve as their highest guide, it is believed that Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara Chenresig made firm vows in front of Buddha Amitabha. Additionally, he pledged to just utterly fracture and shatter into thousands of pieces if his courage, compassion, and mercy for all sentient creatures were to diminish. Avalokiteshvara entered the three realms of existence through universal manifestations after receiving blessings from Buddha Amitabha. He then traveled to Hell and, by preaching the Great Compassion mantra, freed them from both the hot and freezing hells.
How to take care of your thangka?
-Hang your thangka in a traditional silk brocade
-Regular Inspection of your thangka; examine the borders and all attachments.
-Keep thangkas covered when they are on display but not in use.
-Rotate thangkas between display and storage on a regular basis, two to four times a year, to reduce the amount of exposure to light. Keep away from sunlight and humidity.
-Do not apply liquids or other materials to the surface of the thangka.
