Bhaisajyaguru Thangka
Introduction To The Thangka :
One of the most revered individuals in the Buddhist mythology is the Lapis Healing Master. The sutras in which he appears contrast his unpolluted homeland with Amitabha's western paradise. Reciting his mantra or even just saying his holy name aloud is enough to bring liberation from the lower worlds, security from threats in the outside world, and immunity from premature death. One of the most important sutras on the Medicine Buddha is narrated by Shakyamuni to his close associate and attendant Ananda.
Medicine Buddha or Bhaisajyaguru is highly practiced among the Himalayan Tibetan Buddhist community. This Buddha thangka is done in traditional Menri style, which is a major painting style from Lhasa, Central Tibet.
