Brocade Mounted Thangka of 4 Armed Chenrezig Bodhisattva of Great Compassion
Chenrezig, the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion, is one of Tibetan Buddhism's most renowned deities, representing boundless mercy and compassion for all sentient beings. Symbolizing unconditional affection and the desire to alleviate suffering, Chenrezig encourages practitioners to develop mindfulness and kindness. This thangka's artistic and spiritual importance is further enhanced by its blue and red silk brocade framing and hand-painted on cotton canvas.
Chenrezig is represented with four arms, which represent his capacity to reach out and aid all sentient beings. His two middle hands carry a wish-fulfilling jewel at his heart, symbolizing the power of compassion, while his other hands hold a crystal mala, indicating constant prayer, and a lotus flower, symbolizing purity and enlightenment.
