Green Tara, Tibetan Thangka Paintings

Tara is the fully enlightened female buddha. Tara is said to arise from the compassionate tears of Avalokiteshvara. She is the female manifestation of enlightenment in the Buddhist tradition.

Green Tara is placed at the center of the thangka. Her body is fully green in color. Green Tara is seated in a particular posture where her left leg is drawn to symbolize her renunciation of worldly passion and her right leg is extended to help the people in need.  Tara's right hand is in boon-granting mudra and her left hand is holding a fully bloomed lotus in the mudra of bestowing refuge.

May the blessings of Mother Tara be there for your Long Life and Good Health!
