Guru Rinpoche is also known as Guru Padmasambhava. Guru Rinpoche was born miraculously in that lotus by “lotus birth" without human parents. He is said to have hidden secret teachings until the time they would be needed and understood.

Guru Rinpoche is placed at the center of the thangka. He is seated in with a crossed leg holding a vajra in his right hand, and in his left hand, he holds a skull-cup brimming with nectar, containing the vase of longevity that is also filled with the nectar of deathless wisdom.
