He has four arms, a pot-bellied body, and an elephant head. His elephant head represents wisdom, and his large ears signify his ability to listen to his devotees. 
Ganesha has an axe in his upper right hand, signifying the ability to sever ties and eliminate impediments. He holds a noose in his upper left hand, representing the power to attract and control desires. He has a sweet or laddu in his lower left hand, representing the rewards of spiritual attainment. He gestures blessing or fearlessness in his lower right hand, known as Abhaya mudra.
