Amitayus Buddha, also known as Amitayus or Buddha of Infinite Life, is a prominent figure in Mahayana Buddhism, particularly within the Pure Land tradition. He is depicted as a peaceful Buddha, holding a vessel of the nectar of immortality (kalasha) in his hands.
Devotees turn to Amitayus for blessings of long life, health, and spiritual well-being. The practice of reciting his mantra and visualizing him is believed to lead to rebirth in the Pure Land of Sukhavati, a realm of enlightenment where one can attain Buddhahood.
Amitayus represents the aspiration for a long and meaningful life, both in a worldly and spiritual sense.
