Brocade Mounted Vairocana Buddha Thangka
Introduction To The Thangka :
This is a magnificent piece of Vairocana Buddha thangka. Masterfully executed in rich, vibrant colours with illuminating detail. The silk brocade frame compliments the painting beautifully and forms a focal point in our praying/meditation room.
The Vairocana Buddha is the guardian of the center and is identified by the gesture of teaching or the "Turning of the Wheel of Law" (dharmacakramudra). He sits on a high throne of lotus. His hands are in the gesture of teaching.
Vairocana Buddha can best be understood in three different ways: as the principal character in a number of Buddhist sutras, a meditational deity used in ritual practices, and a familiar image depicted in early painting and sculpture. He is also one of the pre-eminent Buddhas in Tantric Buddhism along with Akshobhya and Amitabha. In some Sutra and Tantra explanations, he is seen as a universal form of Shakyamuni Buddha and therefore especially important in the early development and history of Tantric Buddhism.

How does Thangka benefit us?
It goes without saying that every detail of a painting has a symbolic meaning. Regardless of your religious affiliation, a thangka can help you on your path to enlightenment, whether you practice Buddhism or have other religious convictions. Thangkas are paintings that depict deities with various iconographic elements and symbolism that encourage meditation on the teachings of the god they depict. Any thangka is intended to aid in the removal of the film of ignorance, which is a significant barrier to the road to enlightenment. The Thangka is revered as a holy item. They promote positivity, spread Buddhism's teachings, bring about peace, harmony, and oneness, and dispel any negative energy that may be there.
