The Green Tara, Bodhisattva Thangka Art

The Bodhisattva Green Tara color represents power and enthusiasm in a young person's life. The Thangka art described her as comfortable with her right leg outstretched, indicating that she is ready to perform. On the lotus base, the left leg is folded in a meditative posture, symbolizing the joining of wisdom and art.
Her left hand holds the stem of a blue lotus, which floats over her left shoulder as a sign of purity and power, in the gesture of providing shelter. She gestures with her right hand in a boon granting the motion.

Note: Green Tara Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.

According to Tara Tantra, Tara was born as the daughter of a king many eons ago. She was a pious and caring princess who regularly donated offerings and prayers to the consecrated monks and nuns. As a result of her spiritual achievements, the monks told her that they would pray for her to be reborn as a man so that it may disseminate Buddhist teachings. She replied that there was neither male nor female in truth, that nothing existed in actuality. She desired to continue in female form to serve other beings until everyone attained enlightenment, emphasizing the monk's lack of knowledge in assuming only male preachers for the Buddhist religion.
