Tibetan Painting of Mother White Tara
In the Tibetan thangka painting, Mother White Tara, also known as Dolma, is placed at the center, making her radiating white body stand out visibly. White Tara is seated cross-legged on the lotus and moon seat and holds her hand in the same pose as Green Tara. Her special attributes are her seven eyes, the third eye on her forehead, four eyes on the palms of her hands, and the soles of her feet.
White Tara (also called Dolma) is the female Bodhisattva of Compassion. She embodies the motivation of compassion in action, bestowing blessings of mercy and release from suffering. She embodies, nourishes, and smiles at the vitality of creation, and has sympathy for all beings, just as a mother does for her children.
