Introduction To The Buddhist Stupa :
"A stupa is a palace in which all the Buddhas reside."
The Buddha, crowned and seated in meditation position on a lion throne, appears in the shape of the stupa. His crown is the spire's top; his head is the square at the spire's base; his body is the vase form; his legs are the lower terrace's four stairs; and the base is his throne.
