About our Stupa :
This exquisite stupa is a testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of its creators. Handcrafted on a copper body, it undergoes a meticulous process known as fire gilding to achieve its resplendent appearance. The fire gilding technique involves the application of a thin layer of gold using heat, resulting in a radiant and enduring finish. This stupa, crafted with reverence and attention to detail, stands as a symbol of spiritual significance. Its intricate design and the careful application of the fire-gilding process not only enhance its visual appeal but also imbue it with a sense of sacredness. This piece is a testament to the fusion of traditional techniques and artistic vision, creating a timeless work that inspires awe and contemplation.
Introduction To Stupa :
Before Buddhism, great teachers were buried in mounds. Some were cremated but sometimes buried in a seated, meditative position. The mound of earth covered them up. Thus, the domed shape of the stupa came to represent a person seated in meditation, much as the Buddha was when he achieved Enlightenment and knowledge of the Four Noble Truths. The stupa's base represents his crossed legs as he sat meditatively. The middle portion is the Buddha’s body, and the top of the mound, where a pole rises from the apex surrounded by a small fence, represents his head. Before images of the human Buddha were created, reliefs often depicted practitioners demonstrating devotion to a stupa.
