Green Tara Thangka
About Our Thangka :
Our thangka is a handpainted Tibetan art done using traditional methods. It is a unique piece created using genuine 24K gold and natural stone colors.
Introduction To Green Tara :
Green Tara is adorned in silken garments and jeweled ornaments. The main difference on the iconography between the green Tara and the white Tara is the position of the legs. Green Tara sits in a posture of ease, with one leg drawn towards her and the other resting on a lotus bud that springs from the pedestal. Her hands are in the mudra of perfect generosity, holding the stems of blue lotus showing a peaceful and smiling expression.
The whole body of this Green Tara has been gilded with gold by the ancient process of gold gilding using amalgam Gold.
This process of Gold gilding is known as Mercury Gold Gilding Fire Gilding, or Fire gold plating(In Nepal). Gold gilded by this process is very good for the Thangka Painting, as the statue gilded by this process will retain the gold for a very long time. Gold Gilded by this process is comparatively expensive to the modern electrochemical plating but due to its durability, it is still a preferred choice for many collectors and practitioners alike.
