Introduction To The Stupa :
Before Buddhism, great teachers were buried in mounds. Some were incinerated, while others were buried while sitting in contemplation. They were concealed beneath an earthen mound. As a result, the stupa's domed shape resembled a person seated in meditation, similar to how the Buddha was when he reached Enlightenment and comprehended the Four Noble Truths. The stupa's base portrays him seated with his legs crossed in a thoughtful posture. The body of the Buddha is shown in the center of the mound, while his head is depicted at the top of the mound, where a pole rises from the pinnacle and is encircled by a little fence. Reliefs typically depicted practitioners displaying devotion to a stupa before to the creation of images of the figure Buddha.
