Introduction To The Tibetan Relic Stupa :

The Buddha appears in the shape of the stupa, crowned and seated in meditation pose on a lion throne. His crown is the top of the spire; his head is the square at the foot of the spire; his body is the vase form; his legs are the four stairs on the lower terrace, andand the base is his throne.
