Traditional Buddha Shakyamuni Thangka
Known as Siddhartha Gautama when he was born in the sixth century BCE, Buddha Shakyamuni is regarded as the founder of Buddhism. Born into a wealthy family in the Shakya kingdom of modern-day Nepal, Siddhartha experienced a radical change in his upbringing when he faced the unavoidable truth of human suffering. Motivated by a sincere desire for comprehension, he abandoned his life as a royal to go on a spiritual journey. He became a Buddha after years of meditation when enlightenment appeared beneath the Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya, India. Entire Buddhas and Bodhisattvas serve as guardians, providing a wider context for deep teachings, while angry and calm protective deities act as wards against dangers. The Refuge Tree's significance is enhanced by inscribed sacred texts, mantras, and symbolic elements, as well as depictions of sacred landscapes associated with Guru Rinpoche. The Nyingma tradition's spiritual lineage, wisdom, and transformative essence can be communicated with through this thangka, an exquisite expression of devotion and meditation.
