Hand Painted Mahakala Thangka Artwork
We have skillfully painted this Tibetan thangka of Bernagchen on the original cotton canvas using real 24-karat gold and acrylic colors. On top of a sun disc lotus seat, we have a deity with a wrathful facial expression. He is holding a blood skull cup in his left hand and a curved flaying knife in his right hand. We can tell you that this artwork was created using high-quality materials that will last for many years. This traditional painting will be a great gift from Nepal to a practitioner like you.

Bernagchen is the personal guardian of the Karmapas, the leaders of the Karma Kagyu lineage, in this form of Mahakala. He has two arms, and his name means 'The Black Cloak.' The practice was established into the Karma Kagyu tradition by the 2nd Karmapa, Karma Pakshi (1206-1283 CE). The training comes from the Nyingma lineage's Revealed Treasure or Terma tradition. Mahakala Bernagchen is also considered one of the Karma Kagyu lineage's unique guardians.
