Description
Butadamara Thangka- Sakya Vajrapani Tibetan Art
Butadamara, also known as Sakya Vajrapani, is depicted standing atop a sun disc lotus seat that appears to be floating in water in this Thangka. His body is dark blue in hue, with a serpent garland around his neck, golden bracelets, silk scarves, and jewel and bone ornaments, and he wears a lower garment made up of tiger's skin. Our artist has painted a thangka in Natural Stone Color and 24K Gold in an artistic manner, resulting in a beautiful background and ambiance.

Butadamara symbolizes the indestructible Vajra-mind of all Buddha. He is the meditational deity in the series to be represented in wrathful form. He stands in the midst of a raging fire. He is a four-armed vajrapani. His right-hand holds a sky-iron Vajra, with which he conquers the planetary influences; and his left-hand shows the subjugation mudra at heart level. His expression is wrathful with three eyes and a rolling tongue. Trampling upon the corpse of ego, his left leg is extended and his right leg slightly bent.
