Tibetan Dhyani Buddha Amitabha Thangka Artwork

The Dhyani Buddha Amitabha Thangka is artistically hand-painted on a cotton canvas using natural stone colors in our studio. We have portrayed the deity seated atop a moon disc lotus seat with his legs crossed and hands holding an alms bowl. The red halo illuminates his calm and serene facial expression. This thangka features Buddha at the center, with offerings presented to him. We have used pure 24K gold to further highlight the features of the deity and as a finishing touch. You can use this thangka painting for various purposes, such as in your regular meditation, Buddhist rituals, and even home décor.

Note: Amitabha Buddha Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.

Amitabha is also known as Amitayus, the great savior Buddha in Mahayana Buddhism, particularly in the Pure Land sects. In Tibet and Nepal, Amitabha was never as popular as a savior figure as in East Asia. Still, he is revered as one of the five "self-born" buddhas (Dhyani-buddhas) who have existed eternally. Amitabha is known as Amitayus, or "Infinite Life," because he bestows longevity. The two names are often interchanged in China and Japan, but in Tibet, the two are never confounded, and Amitayus is worshiped in a specific ritual for obtaining long life. He is depicted with ornaments and a crown on his head, holding the ambrosia vase from which the eternal life jewels fall.
