Guardian of the Dharma, Mahakala of Sakya Tradition
The Mahakala of the Sakya Tradition is one of Tibetan Buddhism's most renowned protector deities, representing the ability to remove impediments, subjugate bad forces, and protect the Dharma. This magnificent thangka is hand-painted with genuine 24K gold accents on a striking black canvas. The artwork, created in the traditional Nakthang style, captures the deity's fearsome energy and divine presence with amazing detail and artistry.
Sakya Mahakala is portrayed with three piercing eyes, which represent his awareness and capacity to observe all realms. He wields a curved knife with a vajra handle, a skull cup full of symbolic elixirs, and a ritual staff that represents spiritual authority. His figure is decorated with a serpent garland, signifying his ability to defeat evil powers and alter barriers. The blazing halo around him symbolizes purification, while the intricate 24K gold embellishments emphasize his sacred energy and divine presence.
