Sakya Mahakala is Protector Deity, Thangka Painting

Sakya Mahakala, also known as the Sakya sect's most popular Protector deity. A burning flame behind him conveys his wrathful nature with his upward fire-like hair and large, glazed eyes. He is represented with a wooden gong (Gandhi), a skull bowl, and a vajra holder in his hands, and his right leg is on top of a human face, wearing a five-headed skull crown. He has tiger skin on his body and snake-like ornamentation with a gaped mouth. The wooden Gandhi is used to summon the monks and nuns in the monasteries and is symbolic of his vow to protect and guard the monastic community. He is celebrated and placed in the hearts of all Sakya practitioners in the Himalayan community.

Note: Sakya Mahakala Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.

Otherwise known as Gonpo Panjaranatha, he was already popular among the Ningmapa lamas. He probably occupied a central position among Indian experts as the guardian and archetype of a Buddhist deity. His Panjaranatha form was essential to the Sakya Order. As a guardian(Dharmapala), Mahakala guards the Dharma teachings, particularly about the Hevajra Tantra, the Vajra Panjara tantra, and the Paramasuka Chakrasamvara tantra. He typically serves advanced Buddhist practitioners, often known as tantric or adept, in their quest for enlightenment. This Mahakala thangka will be an ideal gift for practitioners!

HAND-PAINTED WITH STONE COLORS AND GENUINE 24K GOLD IN NAKTHANG STYLE.
