Description

Traditional Tibetan White Tara Thangka

A Nepalese artist made this Tibetan White Tara thangka in the classic karma gadri style, integrating genuine 24k gold and natural stone color. Nepalese artisans have passed down their techniques from generation to generation, a practice that is rooted in Buddhism. She has a serene and calm countenance as she rests on a moon disc lotus seat. A sparkling halo illuminates her face while the vibrant nimbus engulfs her. This thangka is portrayed in a plain dark blue background where the deity is depicted in the center beneath the beautiful flower tree.

White Tara is a meditational deity practiced by the Vajrayana practitioners. White Tara (also called Dolma) is the female Bodhisattva of Compassion. She embodies the motivation of compassion in action, bestowing blessings of mercy and release from suffering. She engenders, nourishes, smiles at the vitality of creation, and has sympathy for all beings as a mother does for her children.
