Buddha Life Story in Red and Gold
Original Size of Thangka ( 17 x 24 inches )
We have presented Buddha Life Story in a traditional Red and Gold (Marthang) style. We have used 24K gold as a precious offering object while painting the thangka. This is the tradition within the thangka painting community. We take it as an opportunity to gain merits by making offerings of precious objects to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
On the thangka, Golden Body Buddha Shakyamuni is at the centre of the elaborate throne. On the back of his throne, the 12 major deeds of Buddha are shown in intricate and fine details. 1. Coming from Tushita, 2. Entering the mother’s womb 3. Taking birth 4. Becoming skilled in various arts 5. Delighting in the company of royal consorts 6. Developing renunciation and becoming ordained 7. Practising austerities for six years 8. Proceeding to the foot of the bodhi tree 9. overcoming Mara’s hosts 10. Becoming fully enlightened 11. Turning the wheel of Dharma 12. Passing into Mahaparinirvana.
Also in the thangka, various arhats, Bodhisattvas, Offering Goddesses are shown attending Buddha Shakyamuni. The work on the thangka is extremely nice. We are happy to share this beautiful thangka of Buddha Shakyamuni with you all.
