8 Medicine Buddhas Thangka Painting, Bhaisajyaguru

Among the 8 Medicine buddhas thangka painting, the central figure, Bhaisajyaguru, is also known as Vaiduryaprabharaja, or "King of Vaidurya Light." He is also known as Shakyamuni Buddha's aspect, to unveil the Four Tibetan Medical Tantras. He's shown in the lotus position, his body the color of lapis lazuli, and he's dressed in Buddhist monk robes. He holds a lapis-colored jar of medical nectar in his left hand and the stem of an aruna fruit in his right hand, which rests on his knee. The chanting of praises to the Eight Medicine Buddhas helps in healing physical ailments, the alleviation of mental and emotional illnesses, and the removal of barriers to health, happiness, longevity, and harmony.
