Chenresig Thangka, Avalokiteshvara Painting for the Practitioners

Our artist used natural stone colors and 24K gold to paint the Chenrezig thangka (also known as Avalokiteshvara). The beautiful ambiance that sparkles around him contrasts with the red halo that gives the face a glow. The use of halo highlights Chenrezig's ethereal whiteness. He is seated atop a moon disc lotus seat on the surface of the ground with calm and serene expression.

Note: Chenrezig Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.

Chenrezig, also known as Avalokitesvara, or "One Who Looks With Unwavering Eye," is the most revered Bodhisattvas, representing all Buddhas' compassion. He listens to the cries of all sentient beings in times of strife and difficulty. His two front hands are clasped in front of his jewel-draped heart in a pious gesture. On his upper right hand, he wears a crystal akshamala, or rosary, symbolizing the never-ending cycle. His left hand holds a white lotus, implying that he liberates conscious people from the muddy streams of pain and hellish realms, bringing them to the new stages of enlightenment. He is dressed in silk and seated on a row of lotus petals, both legs in meditation's "diamond stance."
