Dorje Bernakchen Mahakala Thangka, The Great Black Cloak

The thangka portrays Dorje Bernakchen, also known as the great black cloak. He carries a chopper in his right hand, representing the chopping through destructive patterns like violence, hatred, and ignorance. He holds a skull cup in his left hand, a ceremonial piece usually filled with blood or human brain matter. He is seen standing atop the bodies of two people, indicating the death of negativities and the total uprooting of negative patterns to the point that, like a dead body, they would not resurrect.
