Guru Rinpoche Brocade Thangka, Padmasambhava  Tibetan Art

Guru Padmasambhava is also known as Guru Rinpoche in Buddhism. In the traditional Karma Gadri style, this brocade thangka is painted with stone color and 24k gold. He is seated in a Royal stance atop a  lotus. He has a vajra in his right hand and a nectar-filled skull-cup in his left. The bright blue nimbus with a gold pattern engulfs him, and the blue halo illuminates his tranquil and calm face.

Teacher Padmasambhava, also known as Guru Rinpoche (the Precious Guru), was a Buddhist guru who was instrumental in establishing Vajrayana Buddhism in Tibet around the eighth century CE. There were three schools of Buddhism at the time: Hinayana (now known as Theravada), Mahayana, and Vajrayana, all of which were not well-known.
