The Protective Energy of the Mother of Liberation, Green Tara | Symbol of Healing and Enlightened Action
The Mother of Liberation, Green Tara, is among Tibetan Buddhism's most venerated female Buddhas, representing compassion and offering protection. Also known as Sgrol-ljang, she promptly answers calls for assistance. This hand-painted thangka, created in our studio, follows the traditional Karma Gadri style, utilizing natural stone pigments and 24K gold. This artistic style highlights open backgrounds, gentle landscapes, a natural color palette, and delicate lines.
Green Tara is shown sitting gracefully, embodying her willingness to support sentient beings. Her right leg extends forward, resting on a lotus, while her left leg is folded in a meditative position. She is seated on a lotus pedestal, symbolizing purity and compassion. With her right hand displayed in varada mudra, she represents generosity, while her left hand holds a blue utpala flower in abhaya mudra, signifying protection. She is decorated with elaborately painted golden jewelry, comprising necklaces, armlets, anklets, and earrings.
A delicate five-jeweled crown sits atop her head, each gem precisely designed to represent her enlightened qualities. Flowing silken scarves envelop her figure, amplifying the aura of divine motion and sacred elegance. Her attire, abundant in texture and color, features intricately patterned layers of blue, orange, and gold, which further elevate her divine presence.
This thangka is more than just a piece of art; it is a visual hymn to Green Tara's compassion. It serves as a radiant focal point of healing, protection, and inner peace, making it suitable for meditation spaces, shrines, and spiritual inspiration.
