Shakyamuni Buddha Brocade Thangka, Buddhist Wall Scroll Painting

This Buddhist wall scroll painting of Shakyamuni Buddha using acrylic colors is painted in the ancient Karma Gadri. In the brocade thangka, Amid a cover of white clouds, Buddha sits on a moon disc lotus seat that appears to be floating in the air near the lake with colorful petals. His right-hand gestures to touch the earth while his left hand holds a begging bowl. He wears an orange robe draped around his body while his left arm is bare, representing the traditional buddha style. The bright halo and the bright nimbus behind him give the thangka a divine look.

The historical Buddha and the creator of Buddhist philosophy are Shakyamuni Buddha, often known as "the Buddha." Each "Kalpa" (Buddhist eon) is said to have its own Buddha, whose teachings are considered to vanish when the next Buddha arrives. He lived about 420 BC and devoted most of his life to promoting Dharma teachings.
