Vajrapani Butadamara Thangka | Hand-Painted Artwork of the Protector Bodhisattva | With Mitrupa
The Vajrapani Butadamara thangka, sized 10 × 13 inches, vividly depicts divine strength and wisdom. It exemplifies Tibetan artistry, created in the Karma Gadri style, celebrated for its elegant details and open layout. Painted by hand using natural Lhasa stones, it includes elaborate 24K gold accents that highlight the intricate designs. Made on high-quality cotton canvas, every brushstroke reflects careful devotion.
Vajrapani Butadamara is a powerful deity with fierce compassion that dispels ignorance and leads to liberation. His face, with fangs and a fierce expression, symbolizes compassion. His three eyes reflect omniscience, and the five-skull crown transforms the five poisons into wisdom. His body, adorned with silk scarves and serpents, signifies transcendence over illusions. He has four arms, each holding symbolic objects: a vajra, representing the power to cut ignorance, and a vajra lasso to bind negativity. The central hands perform the Humkara Mudra, a wrathful gesture to subdue demons and clear obstacles to enlightenment. Vajrapani Butadamara stands on a subdued deity, symbolizing triumph over ego and destructive forces. He is seated on a sun disc and lotus, representing his enlightened nature and guidance.
Mitrupa, a symbol of wisdom and non-dual awareness, appears in peaceful meditation. His presence balances Vajrapani’s fierce energy, highlighting that true power comes from inner realization, not dominance. This thangka, ideal for meditation, altars, or spiritual empowerment, provides protection and enlightenment, making it a meaningful addition to any sacred setting.
