Description
Tibetan Vajrasattva with Consort Thangka
Vajrasattva with consort is portrayed in this thangka. He is a purification-focused meditational Bodhisattva deity who is worshipped by Vajrayana Buddhists of all sects. According to the scriptures, repenting to Vajrasattva and singing his hundred-syllable mantra can cleanse one of all sins and obscurations. One of the four preparators of ngondro, a preparatory but necessary practice in Vajrayana Buddhism, is the Vajrasattva cleansing ceremony.

Note: Vajrasattva Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa
Vajrasattva holds a bell in his left hand and a Vajra in his right hand. The bell represents wisdom, while the vajra represents compassion. He sits serenely on a moon disc atop a lotus seat, his legs crossed, symbolizing that he remained in this impure cycle of samsara for the sake of sentient beings while remaining unblemished by its flaws. The colors are pleasant and calm, conveying the sense of serenity that Vajrasattva emits. The bright blue halo gives the face a glow which also contrasts with the beautiful blue nimbus that sparkles about him. The usage of halo and nimbus emphasizes Vajrasattva's and consort's translucent whiteness.
