Bodhisattva of Spiritual Protection, Wrathful Vajrapani Thangka
Wrathful Vajrapani Thangka, a hand-painted depiction of the Tibetan Protector Deity. Vajrapani, the embodiment of enlightened power, can be observed here in his wrathful form, radiating fierce compassion and determination to remove obstacles from the path of spiritual seekers.
In Tibetan Buddhism, Vajrapani is depicted as a powerful protector who stands atop a sun disc on a lotus seat, symbolizing his purity and enlightened energy. His three eyes represent his ability to see into the past, present, and future, indicating his omnipotent nature. In his right hand, he holds a vajra, which represents the unbreakable power of wisdom that cuts through ignorance and eliminates negativity. A serpent garland wraps around his body, representing his control of fear, transformation, and the cycle of life and death. His lower body is wrapped in a tiger-skin garment, which represents his fierce, untamed strength and courage. Vajrapani's wrathful appearance, complete with a backdrop of flames, represents his role as the fierce protector of the Buddha's teachings, protecting practitioners from obstacles on their spiritual journey.
