Description

Guru Rinpoche (Guru Padmasambhava) Thangka Painting, Traditional Tibetan Art

In the Thangka, Guru Rinpoche is portrayed in a gown, a monastic robe, and a brocade cap. Our traditional Tibetan artist has picturized him seated in the king's posture. He holds a vajra specter in his right hand, and in his left hand, he has a skullcap containing a vase of immortality. In the curve of his left hand is the divine consort of bliss and emptiness in the form of Khatvang trident. Above him is seated medicine buddha between rainbows, which seems like disappearing into the clouds. The Thangka is bright with blue water filled with lotus and flowers on the rock.

Note: Guru Rinpoche Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio located at Boudha Stupa.

Twelve years after the Parinirvana of the Buddha, the rays of blessing light of the Buddha of Infinite Light touched a lotus where Guru Rinpoche miraculously took birth, who was then later enthroned as the Crown Prince. But, he left the royal palace to serve a more significant number of beings through sacred teachings and power.

A fully enlightened Buddha, Guru Padmasambhava, trained himself at many sacred places and taught infinite visible and invisible beings. He pacified many opposing forces obstructing his enlightening activities through his invincible powers.
