Buddhist Artwork of Great Master Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava)
The Great Master Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, is honored as the second Buddha in Tibetan Buddhism and is a transformative figure who introduced the Dharma to Tibet. This exceptional thangka, measuring 30 inches by 40 inches, is meticulously crafted on high-quality cotton canvas. It is hand-painted with natural Lhasa stone colors and features genuine 24K gold accents. This masterpiece embodies the grace and wisdom of Padmasambhava as described in the Meditation Manual. Its composition reflects the principles of the Karma Gadri style, which is renowned for its refined elegance and harmonious balance.
Guru Rinpoche is depicted seated on a lotus throne, wearing his distinctive lotus hat, which features a vulture’s feather and a half vajra on top. These elements symbolize transcendence and wisdom. In his right hand, he holds a five-pronged vajra, representing the unshakable power of compassion and the five wisdoms. In his left hand, he cradles a skull cup with a vase resting on top, signifying the elixir of spiritual transformation and the overcoming of ignorance.
Additionally, Guru Rinpoche is accompanied by his katvanga, a ritual staff topped with nine iron rings, which symbolize his mastery over the nine yanas, or spiritual vehicles. Below that, a double vajra reflects his embodiment of stability and universal balance.
