Manjushri, venerated as the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, has been honored within Mahayana Buddhism since the earliest centuries of the tradition. Ancient scriptures describe him as one of the most ancient and significant bodhisattvas, often accompanying Shakyamuni Buddha and serving as his disciple during sutra dialogues.
