Description
Traditional Buddha Maitreya in Throne | Awaited Buddha of Universal Love & Peace
The Buddha Maitreya Thangka is expertly hand-painted in our studio on cotton canvas using acrylic colors and genuine 24K gold. The renowned Karma Gadri Style guides its execution. Karma Gadri manner strongly emphasizes spacious backgrounds, gentle landscapes, and accurate iconography. The layering of 24K gold in this thangka enhances the visual harmony and spiritual atmosphere by casting a brilliant glow over Maitreya's crown, garments, and throne. His legs rest evenly on the moon disc and lotus seat, symbolizing the readiness to rise and descend to the human realm. This position reflects his transitional state in Tushita Heaven, but he is prepared to appear in the world when the teachings of Shakyamuni fade.
Maitreya holds significant historical and spiritual significance in Mahayana Buddhism, as he is considered the next Buddha to renew the Dharma, bring peace, and liberate suffering. The thangka features Maitreya's hands in the Teaching Gesture, symbolizing the turning of the wheel of Dharma. He holds lotus stems, a vase of immortality nectar, and a Dharma wheel, underscoring his role as the future spiritual teacher. His five-jeweled crown represents his enlightened qualities, while the elaborate lion throne, supported by mythical snow lions, enhances his royal and divine presence. This thangka embodies sacred symbolism and fine artistry, making it a meaningful piece for meditation, devotion, and interior display.
