Tibetan Buddhist Compassion Goddess, Green Tara | Surrounded by Nature’s Serenity and Divine Energy
A sacred Buddhist compassion goddess, Green Tara Thangka, is meticulously hand-painted on a fine cotton canvas with natural stone colors and genuine 24K gold. Executed in the traditional Karma Gadri style, this thangka reflects the school’s distinctive spacious landscapes, soft tones, and delicate detailing. The use of natural pigments gives the painting a lasting vibrancy. At the same time, the gold accents enrich the divine radiance of the goddess, making this thangka a true masterpiece of Tibetan artistry and devotion.
Green Tara, also affectionately known as Shyamatara, holds a special place as one of the most cherished female deities in Tibetan Buddhism. Legend has it that she was born from the compassionate tears of Avalokiteshvara (Chenrezig), who vowed to manifest as a woman until all beings are free from suffering. Revered as the Mother of All Buddhas and a swift protector, she is celebrated for her power to remove obstacles, ward off fears, and bestow blessings of courage and compassion. For many centuries, her practice has offered a comforting refuge, healing energy, and fearless wisdom to countless practitioners.
In this thangka, she is depicted seated on a lotus throne, symbolizing purity and transcendence. Her right leg is extended forward, signifying readiness to act, while her left leg remains folded in meditation, representing inner calm and wisdom. Her right hand is in the mudra of generosity, radiating blessings and compassion, while the left hand holds a blooming blue lotus, symbolizing purity, resilience, and spiritual awakening. Her green form embodies enlightened activity, while the crown, silks, and halo highlight its majesty. The serene natural background of trees and flowers, characteristic of Karma Gadri's style, enhances her divine presence. Ritual offerings at the base symbolize devotion and merit, making this Goddess Green Tara Thangka a powerful focus for meditation and protection.
