Description
Divine Thangka of Green Tara with Amitabha | Mother of All Buddhas And Boundless Light
Gracefully embodying compassion in action, the Divine Thangka of Green Tara with Amitabha is a luminous example of sacred Himalayan artistry. This thangka is meticulously hand-painted on cotton canvas. It is covered with 24K gold and rich natural stone pigments to produce depth, brilliance, and spiritual glow. The composition emphasizes both tranquility and movement and is executed in the classic Karma Gadri style, renowned for its expansive vistas and exquisite details.
Green Tara, called the “Mother of Swift Liberation,” emerged from Avalokiteshvara's tears. She remains in female form to help beings escape suffering and to protect against the Eight Great Fears—worldly threats and internal struggles such as pride, attachment, anger, jealousy, ignorance, greed, doubt, and wrong views. Since Green Tara is considered an emanation of Avalokiteshvara, who is spiritually related to Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, the presence of Amitabha above her further underscores her enlightened lineage. Her green color signifies active compassion and enlightened energy. In Tibetan Buddhism, she is called for quick aid, protection, and obstacle removal, making her a highly revered deity. In this thangka, Green Tara sits in a royal posture on a moon disc on a lotus seat, symbolizing purity and wisdom. Her right hand grants generosity (varada mudra), and her left offers protection (abhaya mudra), holding a blue utpala lotus. She wears a five-jeweled crown, ornaments, and silk scarves. Above her, Amitabha Buddha sits in meditation, linking her to the Lotus Family of enlightened beings. Ideal for meditation spaces and altars, this thangka invites Green Tara’s blessings into your practice.
