The Divine Protector, Garuda Thangka
Garuda, a prominent figure in Buddhist and Hindu traditions, is honored as a supreme deity of strength and protection. Known as the king of birds, he symbolizes the preservation of spiritual wisdom and the victory of knowledge over ignorance. This beautifully hand-painted thangka masterfully blends faith and artistry. It is set within a traditional silk brocade frame adorned with intricate motifs that carry deep religious and cultural meaning.
The lotus seat, symbolizing purity and enlightenment, is where Garuda is depicted standing. In addition to two arms hold curved knife and a skull cup, his his other two arms hold a sword and shield, representing strength and protection. These elements illustrate his role in overcoming ignorance and negativity.
