Introduction of Box
In Buddhism, the rationale for hiding treasures was formulated when Padmasambhava discerned the future, a time when Tibetans would need specific teachings to navigate difficult periods. He therefore designed special Buddhist practices and scriptures for those times and set up the circumstances for these teachings to be revealed at the opportune moment. This involved designating some of his disciples to reveal these teachings in a future lifetime. Padmasambhava then uttered an empowering prophecy about this future revelation and proceeded to hide the teachings in a way that they would not be available until the proper, prophesied moment.
